Baryta carbonicum – What are the indications, key notes, and modalities?

Indications:

  • Tonsillitis with chronic inflammation and suppuration of the tonsils
  • Hard, nodular lymphadenopathy
  • Mental/emotional/physical immaturity

Key notes:

  • Chronically swollen tonsils
  • Immaturity

Modalities:

> open air

< washing, think about symptoms, lying on painful side

For pain that is worse lying on the injured side, dDx. Arnica (thinks well when they are not), Ruta (> motion)

For aversion to bathing, dDx. Sulphur (< heat)
