Indications:

  • Sudden and rapid onset illness with bright red face
  • Fever without thirst
  • Febrile seizures
  • Inflammation (mumps, otitis media)
  • Dilated pupils
  • Hypertension
  • Heatstroke
  • Throbbing headache
  • Bruxism

Constitutionally for violent and obstinate behavior, strong sense of identity, loyal

Key notes:

  • Desire to bite
  • Desire to escape
  • Craves lemons, lemonade
  • Light sensitivity
  • Thirstless

Modalities:

< light, movement, touch, lying down

  • For fever without thirst, dDx. Gelsemium (> continued motion)
  • For fever with delirium, dDx. Pyrogenium (< cold), Stramonium (> warm, bright light)
  • For febrile seizures, dDx. Stramonium (> warm, bright light)
  • For otitis media, dDx. Chamomile (fever with intense sweating and thirst, < heat), Graphites (suppurative, cold but not > heat), Pulsatilla (thirstless, > cold), Tuberculinum (< cold)
  • For hypertension, dDx. Glonoine (< light, heat, especially around the head), Stramonium (> warm, bright light)
  • For headaches, dDx. Gelsemium (< continual motion), Glonoine (head feels too small for brain, < heat around head), Ipecac (with vomiting, < heat), Nux vomica (from over indulgence, > heat), Psorinum (hammering that wakes from sleep > heat), Sanguinaria (right-sided, > lying down)
