Burns Bench Test – What is the purpose, indication and relevance?

Purpose:

• Assess for malingering

Indications:

• Low back pain

Relevance:

• Positive test – refusal to perform or complete the maneuver (aside from patient that are extremely weak from injury or those with significantly diseases hip or knee joints) is indicative or malingering
