Chamomilla – What are the indications, key notes, and modalities?

- Fever with thirst and intense sweating
- Teething
- Painful otitis media
- Colic, gastrointestinal symptoms with much distress
Constitutionally for irritable, inconsolable children, temper tantrums, desire to be firmly held
Key notes:
- Capricious (nothing satisfies, desire for things that are then refused)
- Fever with one cheek pale, the other red
- Green, chopped-spinach stool
Modalities:
< pain, heat
For teething, dDx. Calc-carb (< cold but thirst for cold drinks), Ferrum-phos (high fever with few sx.), Pulsatilla (thirstless, > cold)
For otitis media, dDx. Belladonna (high fever without thirst < heat, motion, lying down), Graphites (suppurative, cold but not > heat), Pulsatilla (thirstless, > cold), Tuberculinum (< cold)
