Ely’s test – What is the purpose, indication and relevance?
December 31, 2020 8:13 amEly’s Test: Client is prone. Practitioner flexes the client’s knee and attempts to bring the heel to the glutes without flexing the hip.
Purpose:
- Assess rectus femoris shortness
Indications:
- Low back pain
- Postural abnormalities
Relevance:
- Positive test – flexing of the hip and pelvis flexes on the affected side is indicative of a shortened rectus femoris
