McMurray’s test – What is the purpose, indication and relevance?
December 31, 2020 8:45 amMcMurray’s Test: Client is supine. Practitioner places one hand along the knee joint, the other hand holds the sole of the foot. Practitioner flexes the knee and hip to 90°, and provides a valgus force, externally rotating the tibia and the extending the knee. Practitioner performs the same action providing a varus force.
Purpose:
- Assess for meniscus pathology
Indications:
- Restricted range of motion in the knee
- Knee injury
Relevance:
- Positive test – pain and/or clicking in the knee is indicative of meniscus pathology
