Mill’s test – What is the purpose, indication and relevance?

Mill’s Test: Client is seated with their arm adducted and their elbow in 90° flexion. Practitioner palpates client’s lateral epicondyle while passively extending the elbow, pronating the forearm and extending the wrist.

Purpose:

  • Assess for lateral epicondylitis

Indications:

  • Pain in the elbow

Relevance:

  • Positive test – pain at the lateral epicondyle
