Phenylephrine – What are the indications and contraindications?

Indications:
- Nasal congestion
Contraindications:
- Glaucoma
- Hypertension
- Hyperthyroidism
- Diabetes
- Genitourinary obstruction, urinary retention, BPH
- Concomitant use of MAO inhibitors
From a pharmacognosy perspective, Euphrasia officinails, Larrea tridentata and Sambusuc nigra are useful herbs in treating hay fever.
