Thompson’s Test: Client is prone. Practitioner squeezes the Gastrocnemius and soleus muscles, noting any movement at the ankle and foot

Purpose:

  • Assess for Achilles’ tendon rupture

Indications:

  • Ankle injury

Relevance:

  • Positive test – no movement or plantar flexion of the foot is indicative of severe staring or rupture of the Achilles’ tendon
