Obstructive causes:
- Colorectal cancer
- Stricture
- Extrinsic compression
- Rectocele
Metabolic causes:
- Diabetes
- Thyroid dysfunction
- Hypercalcemia, hypokalemia
Neurological causes:
- Parkinson’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Stroke
Collagen vascular disease:
- Scleroderma
- Dermatomyositis
Iatrogenic causes:
- Narcotics
- Antidepressants
- Calcium channel blockers
